About Young Star House

Young Star House is a residential group care program with various therapeutic components designed for northern children. Young Star House’s early roots began in 1980 as a foster care home that later moved and became a licensed group home/detention/custody facility. Around 2006 we dropped our detention/custody designation to better focus on Child Protection and therapeutic services.

The current main facility at Off Lake, Ontario includes licensed care for up to 11 youth aged twelve to sixteen. We provide structured and care to youth located in the northern region. We provide DBT based therapeutic intervention and counseling to enhance child skills development and resiliency. As such, we partner with regional First Nation’s Child Protection Agencies and strive to meet the direct needs of their service users and families.
