Young Star House has several openings for Full Time, Part Time and Casual Child Care Workers at our facility on Off Lake.

Young Star House is seeking motivated individuals to fill the need for Full Time, Part Time and Casual Child Care Worker. Shifts can include evening (after school), weekend and possible nights. Employer is willing to be flexible on schedules to help employee meet personal obligations. Prospective Employee should have reliable transportation and other arrangements to assure full attendance as required. Prospective Employee should be willing to be flexible and have a positive attitude toward teen issues. Prospective Employee must be a team player and be able to work well as a valued member of a team. 

This is a paid on-the-job-training and skills development opportunity.

Required Certificates (Employer may help eligible employee meet these requirements):

  1. Police Clearance: CPIC/Vulnerable Sector Screen
  2. First Aid (can be trained after hire)
  3. Valid Ontario Driver's License
  4. meet other employee file requirements as needed

Company will provide: Safe Management, Fire Extinguisher, Cultural Competence, WHMIS and other certificate and non-certificate training as required.

Job Summary
The Child Care Worker, under the direction of the Supervisor / Manager, will primarily be responsible to collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate client care and provide direct support to individuals. This role will also respect and protect the rights of clients.

Job Duties

  • Provide a consistently high standard of care and support for clients
  • Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate client care and support in consultation with individuals and their families
  • Prepare and submit accurate reports and records
  • Use effective interpersonal skills to communicate complex and sensitive information
  • Provide direct and comprehensive care and assistance to clients with specialized and complex needs
  • Encourage open communication among clients when discussing issues, problems, or concerns
  • Ensure commitment to quality, client safety, and risk management initiatives
  • Provide ongoing advocacy and support to clients
  • Provide timely and astute information to other members of the team, as well as to individuals under direct care or support and their family members as required

  • Perform responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation

  • Valid first aid or CPR certification
