Life Skills

Our programs are designed to build on the personal strength of each individual in an educational and supportive environment. Emphasis is placed on learning independence and decision making skills, with special focus on applying and enhancing practical living skills.

Hygiene and Self Care

We provide programming and support to encourage healthy hygiene practices that build self-esteem. Our belief is that when we look and feel healthy, we thrive.

Banking (16 years or older)

Age appropriate children will have the opportunity to set up a bank account and learn the basics of caring for their financial needs.

Driving (16 years or older)

Age appropriate children will have the opportunity to study for and write their learners test. With their agency’s support they may also enroll in driver’s training.

Home Care

We help children take an active roll in their own care. We encourage children to learn how to do their own laundry, dishes and maintain a clean and healthy household for themselves. We also belief these skills will smooth family relations when they return to their communities.

Cooking (suited to age and maturity levels)

Children are encouraged to cook and bake. Staff will help them learn nutritious and delicious cooking styles that also take cultural needs into consideration. Older children will also have the opportunity to participate in an individualized food care program where they can participate budgeting & shopping for groceries keeping in mind nutritional needs.
